The pay raise for 2019 is now fully official. Acting Office of Management and Budget Director Russ Vought told members of Congress that the 2020 budget request prioritized a pay-for-performance approach to employee compensation. The 1.9 percent federal pay raise is still happening, but some challenges have delayed its implementation. The Trump administration is once again calling for a federal pay freeze as part of a 'strengthening the federal workforce' campaign. The 3.1 percent increase is the largest since 2010. The House voted to pass legislation to increase federal employee pay, while the Senate has introduced companion legislation to do the same. Federal employees would see the 2019 pay freeze instituted by President Donald Trump lifted should House legislation pass. Permanent or mandatory appropriations, sometimes referred to as 'backdoor appropriations,' increased over 20 years. The six new regions will have the opportunity to get a pay bump on top of their General Schedule compensation rates. The legislation, called H.R. 1, sets the tone for Democrats as they take the majority in January, though prospects for passage are murky. Load More
