Furloughed and excepted federal employees will begin seeing back pay as early as today, and most will have gotten their paychecks by the end of January, acting Office of Personnel Management Director Margaret Weichert announced via Twitter Jan. 29.
Most feds impacted by the shutdown missed two paychecks, though how much money they will receive as back pay depends on the kind of work they were scheduled to do and what kind of leave they may have been scheduled to take.
Specifics on when feds can expect to see their paychecks depend on the number of feds impacted at each agency and the size of the HR and payroll departments available to address pay documentation.
