President Donald Trump announced Feb. 2 that Roger L. Stone will take up the role of White House Director of Information Technology, which was left vacant after the departure of Chris Herndon at the end of 2018.

The White House IT Director is a relatively new position, established by executive order during the Obama administration to ensure that IT run at the White House and Executive Office of the President is “efficient, secure and resilient.”

Stone previously worked as the deputy senior director of resilience policy at the National Security Council beginning in April 2018, and prior to that held various leadership positions at the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Jessie Bur covers federal IT and management.
