Federal buildings in the Washington area might be seeing more solar power systems, under a new solicitation by the General Services Administration.
The agency is looking for a power purchase agreement that would extend across multiple buildings in the Washington area, according to a June 9 solicitation.

Some of the buildings that might see new solar panel systems include the Ronald Reagan Federal Building, the Treasury Building and the Bureau of Engraving and Printing.

Businesses have until June 19 to confirm their attendance at a pre-proposal conference and then GSA will allow for site visits in July. Proposals are due August
The power purchase agreement would run for 10 years with an option to renew the agreement for another 10 years, according to the solicitation.
Agencies are under pressure to become more sustainable and use more renewable energy under an executive order signed by President Obama March 19. The order requires agencies to increase the amount of renewable energy they use to 30 percent of overall energy use.
