Anqunett Vernetta Lewis, a 34-year-old corrections officer for the Bureau of Prisons at a federal correctional institution in Beaumont, Texas, plead guilty to smuggling cellular-equipped watches into the facility while carrying out her typical duties.

Starting in October 2015 until January 2016, Lewis provided inmates with the contraband in exchange for payments via wire transfers.

Entering her plea in front of U.S. Magistrate Judge Zack Hawthorn in the Eastern District of Texas, Lewis could face up to five years in federal prison at her sentencing, which will be scheduled after the completion of a pre-sentence investigation by the U.S. Probation Office.
