The Professional Services Council trade association has spoken out against the suspension of Environmental Protection Agency contract and grant awards on behalf of its 400 member companies.

In a letter addressed to the EPA's Acting Administrator Catherine McCabe, PSC President and CEO David J. Berteau voices concerns about reports that the EPA has halted new awards and even payment for work already performed in order to align with new administration priorities.

"A blunt, across the board halt on contracting actions will disrupt core government operations, drive away hard-to-find workers and may cost more to restart than it saves by stopping," wrote Berteau. "Absent problems with specific contracts, we strongly recommend that these actions be of the shortest duration possible."

PSC is encouraging the EPA to share public information on plans to allow companies to brace for the potential economic impact of such actions on their workers.
